So there's lot's of new metal stuff coming out now in the underground death metal scene, well I'm pretty impressed anyway.
I mean in general the music scene right now is surprisingly huge with new bands coming out, the problem I see is they have no venue or seeable promotions.
Like for one because there are no record stores now, I used to work for CD Plus.
That was a long time ago, I'm the one who got them to carry Mayhem and them back in 1998 after the murders and they started carrying independent metal in all their stores, later they launched it on the internet on their webstore...that's when heavy metal cd's first hit the mainstream market with CD shopping carts.
I can't take all the credit for that though, CD Plus was half owned from Halifax and they came in with used Cd's and a metal section from Downtown Halifax...that was the independent cd store that carried all the Dead Kennedys stickers and shirts and stuff in Halifax in the 1990's.
They merged with the old A&A Records thing what was left of it and I was there at that time and setup their metal section, now it's all on Amazon.ca.
That's a pretty big deal though, that's this page....the metal section stuff from CD Plus....
So I'm taking a break right now but I'm still working when there's nothing going on and I'm trying to keep up with this list coming out....
My advice is to keep playing, it takes several years for your records to start going around....like right now there's no venue but there's a good scene going so if you stay in music for a long time there's a chance your band will come out.
How am I listening to all that?
Well that's what I'm trying to figure out, with my degree from St. Francis Xavier University this is the work I talk about on this blog...like the school projects, how do you organize all that music coming out for release on the internet now that the mall stores are closed?
That's what I mean...
That's the type of work I do with my degree.
What we do is make playlists and are just listening to one song from each band, then if we like the song and video stuff we share it on our distribution network on the internet....like on pages like www.deathmetal.tv .
Our main list is that playlist.
Then we take the full record and put that in a pile and listen to them later, like on their album streams and stuff.
So we're just doing metal like a Top 40 or Top 200 list on our pages....
Then we're listening to the songs on playlists and picking the best albums and then putting them in the pile to listen to later.
For that you need to have an actual music video made and finished music single and album coming out......
So getting into music now you will need all that....real music videos and visualizers and etc., so it's getting pretty expensive to play.
To release a heavy metal album it costs $10 Thousand Dollars on the market they are saying if you have to pay to release it.
Then we're sharing our release lists for "blog distribution" etc...to share videos and album streams and stuff.
Like that, so just follow our video playlist pages for the most current stuff...the list is also getting behind because of the large heavy metal music scene that is going now...then we're picking bands to promote off the the video and single release list...then we'll promote those albums and see how the bands do.
So that's pretty good it's a venue and a release list with millions of visitors so that's pretty good for the undergound metal scene, like coming from here from the old CD Plus metal section that I run on my own now.
Then on the blogs that support us they're carrying our shopping cart to help us sell hats and stuff like at the CD Plus store....then we're selling shirts and stuff on the page, that is expanding on the page and are just seeing how it goes for now on the small list.
We're taking submissions for t-shirt prints for the store on the page at www.banzairecords.com/blog ...send your details to the page with the t-shirt graphics if you are interested in a t-shirt / sticker etc. deal from our store....you'll probably make about 10% of the sales (which seems to be the going rate) and the store has millions of visitors...like so that's a pretty good deal, just to have your t-shirt listed there as a band advertisement.
So if we put your band on our pages tons of people will see it, that might take a couple years to go around before your band gets on the page so don't quit, tons of people would see it then.
The most recent video updates are on the www.deathmetal.tv playlist and posted on our social media pages, we just use that for the release list from our promotion and don't have people on there liking the pages and stuff, like we only use the share section and then the rest as a regular web page.
