Houston Astros Altuve signs deal to stay with Astros for rest of career.
Now we'll get all the followers or nay sayers...
I'm telling you right now that Altuve signed that deal because he THINKS that Houston will win the MLB World Series within that time period.
Now will other big stars follow Altuve or not?
I mean, you trade for a big player for a short term deal who is about to be a free agent, then the next year you have to sign them.
Like, you lose all your players in a trade for a short term deal on a big star about to be a free agent.
Then he MIGHT sign somewhere else, anyway....you still get your money the same year to sign the next guy.
So, will players look at their current team and say "I think we can win within 5 - 8 years so I will sign after the free agent deal is up for the rest."
Rather, than go to a last place team with no chance to win in 5 - 8 years.
What's it gonna be baseball stars?
Are you winning in the next 5 - 7 years or are you gonna start over and risk losing on a smaller team?
