Fall Thanksgiving Update 2020

Now it's September, all the kids are going back to school this week maybe, note: this could be a good chance to sell some heavy metal records ie. "back to school".

Unless they don't like wearing the mask that is, I mean if I was in school I would just throw a temper tantrum until the school sent me home.

I mean how can you sit in class with a mask on?

You're gonna get a migraine headache, sweating in a face mask in a classroom all day. They should either not use the mask in school or wait to open when the covid vaccination comes out, they already announced that...when will that be next year?

We'll all line up at the shoppers drug mart to get our needle.

New albums out this Summer / Fall from...oh sorry that was for a different blog.

Kids ask me, what's your advice for trying to make it in the music business...my answer is the same as everyone's....quit.

Working in music is a lot harder and longer than you could ever imagine, I mean unless you have all free time for the rest of your life quit.

Is social media dead in the music industry?

Probably, I would tell you social media probably never caught on anyway.

Social Media is all industry people, I'm just doing my own...like I don't have a bunch of people following me around on the internet and liking my posts and stuff and playing my songs on digital services to support my band.

I mean it's stuff like that, actual play counts and stuff that are not just for show.

Like with big companies, the money they make off streams only pays to host the songs there as far as I can see...then if they get people to do that well that doesn't make them any money. Plus they pay them wages, I mean only real play counts pay anyway...and they probably even own the digital streaming service.

It would be nice to have inflated internet numbers for a band promotion but again, I'd rather have the money for the actual play counts.

That's why I don't take my band there, they don't pay enough for me to even take the record deal. Like if I did I'd be giving up too much at home that I do with music just to get stuff like inflated play counts...they doesn't pay either, plus the record company probably gets the money.

So why would I lose money out of my pocket at home in music that I can make myself to take a record deal where I don't get anything...you get inflated play counts...now people might actually be listening to those so I don't mean they are totally fake, I mean they are an internet promotion and people play it on purpose or follow along with them.

I follow along with them playing all their music, like that.

My point is why would I want to have my band there when it pays more to run it at home.

You just don't get the same promotions.

Like wikipedia.

Is that page ever dying fast man.

You have to be on a promotion to get on wikipedia, like my band Collapse is listed on it under the old promotion Great White North Records....that's what makes you mad, that label already had that out and on wikipedia.

Like that's the size of the scam they setup.

On social media, the other promotions all cover band social media posts like on Facebook and Instagram.

So if they don't cover your Facebook posts on pages like Blabbermouth.net then you're not on their promotion....that's like Warner Records or someone.

Like if you're trying to be in a band and get listed on music pages on the internet, that's how much work it is....I mean Warner Music has to cover your Facebook posts automatically for music news pages.

So if you're not getting in that direction, then you're not making it in music.

That's for regular Heavy Metal bands that don't make any money, they say.

The whole thing looks worthless to me anyway, social media.

Like I thought it was something else, it's just a bunch of industry people.

Like on wikipedia, all their music references are social media quotes from Facebook by the artists daily "chime in's" on current topics.

That's from music pages at Warner like Blabbermouth.net issuing their hourly social media posts.

I mean they are always on there, like Ace Frehley who has a new record coming out right now, he's on there every ten minutes on Facebook posting stuff and they put it all up on Blabbermouth.net covering their Facebook page.

Then when they make a wikipedia page the reference is just Ace Frehley's Facebook page, which was covered on the Warner Page...Blabbemouth.net .

That's what my old record label got kicked off of for running a scam, now I own the name but it's not under contract now there.

It's just the point of social media, is it even relevant...I doubt it anyway.

I mean come off it, to get on wikipedia you have to have Warner and them, Blabbermouth.net , cover your social media posts on Facebook.

Then they use that for the reference to your wikipedia page.

Then it get's indexed on google at the top, that's like some kind of deal between google and warner music to put all that out.

I don't even care it's just the point, the wikipedia references for their articles are Facebook posts and stuff from Ace Frehley. Like it's getting even less realistic and credible...unless that's the Warner buyout or something I'm watching.

I'm not doing all that, setting up all the Facebook stuff so magazines can cover my social media posts...what a waste of money.

That's what I mean, you get a deal there and then they want me to set all that up out of my pocket probably...I'm not fucking doing that.

That's a waste of time and money.

I'm in a Death Metal band, all I need is an album cover and a band flyer.

Social Media coverage, what a waste of time man. No one will even make it in music if they can't do all that, and the main point for me is that's like taking a demotion and wage cut to get on social media.

I'm not doing any of that because my band runs better off it.
