Dungeons & Dragons 6E (2024): New Starter Set Playable

One D&D the new rules announcement includes all versions of D20 games and previous Dungeons & Dragons version for the 6E Release 2024.

That's not how they are specifically saying it, but when you put it together that's what it is....the D&D "Multiverse" of home gaming and D20 is "One D&D" .

They mean don't go by version number, the new set is just "Starter Set 2022" and Rules Expansion for 5E books playable backwards until the new Players Handbook comes out.

Follow along with me on Blogger! and www.dawnforgedcast.com/blog for my live game guides as Dungeons & Dragons 6E is being released.

"Starter Set: Dragons Of Stormwreck Isle" is the beginning rule book for the new version.

Monsters are listed in "Monsters Of The Multiverse".

New 6E rules and play test material for the new books are available online from One D&D (HASBRO) and D&D Beyond (HASBRO).

You can test new rules and functionality on these pages as they test them for the 6E release to see what will make it in the final rule book for the new Players Handbook.

Experienced Dungeon Masters can view the new rule changes coming in 6E in "Monster's Of The Multiverse", "Tasha's Cauldron Of Everything" and "Xanathar's Guide To Everything"  and "Dragons Of Stormwreck Isle".

This means if you make your adventures as a Dungeon Master on the new books you are basically playing a new "house rules" version of Dungeons & Dragons 6E.

No new Players Handbook or Dungeon Master's Guide yet, the new changes are listed in the rules expansion books listed above.

Start with "Dragons Of Stormwreck Isle" and make your campaign, then add additional old rules from the 5E Players Handbook and add new features from the Rules Expansion set...that is basically a new version of 6E heading into play testing and live games on the internet at Hasbro.

Playing now your rules submission could make it into the new version.

A suggestion from me when viewing this, not checking the versions, is rules like "death save" should be on the character sheet with three boxes for chance for things like "critical hit" which would give the player three chances to save the character, plus resurrection survival spells from the party characters.

To keep the game going "death save" should be reset after each character "death scenario" back to three strikes plus resurrection to keep players from being knocked out of the game too soon.

-----------

Start with the Starter Set Rules to make your character, then use the 5E Players Handbook and Rules Expansion to create the characters and play over thirty monster characters on "Dragons Of Stormwreck Isle" Rules Expansion on One D&D.

For example,

Character classes (Fighter, Wizard, Barbarian etc.) are Expanded in the new rule book where you can add extra "character schools" for more spells and weapons etc. to add to your character sheet for Stormwreck Isle.

This Starter Set only has four sections, but you can expand this into a "house rules game" by extrapolating the new rules from the 5E Players Handbook with the Rules Expansion to begin transitioning into 6E 2024.

Add new weapons, spells, magic items and character schools with these books.

Players can also set up "civilizations" and "economies" in Dungeons & Dragons with those rule sets in the books, a separate game than the normal rules in the Starter Set to play as Armies and larger game settings for house rules games.

In development now are Playable Monster guides and modules not available yet, but by following One D&D Online and Unearth Aracana Online you get to see the rules and try these new functions before the release of the new rule books in 2024 version 6E.

Right now you can play ahead, interact, write and sell modules on the Hasbro page with Dungeons & Dragons and submit you own modules with the new rules and characters for the advance 6E version and your contributions will have a chance to make it into the official rule books.

REMEMBER: Start wit the basic set STARTER SET: DRAGONS OF STORMWRECK ISLE and then begin playing ahead into 6E on One D&D by introducing the new rules and characters / monster characters in your own modules that you can send to Hasbro that they will review and you can them on their page.

D20 Game Systems are also in submission for the new Official Rule selections from play testing that could make in into the Official Dungeons & Dragons 6E Rule Book Releases starting in 2024.
