Looks like on death row now they just have them in a block unit in open cells awaiting "processing" for their execution, like all out in the open and they have to feed themselves in front of the group working there and stuff right in the open in front of each other, like for medical and science evaluation access etc.
Edit, also on that video they are talking about cases from minors who were charged as adults in the early 1990's etc. now they are on television showing their faces twenty five plus years later saying they have never been outside or driven a car or anything, but people might know the cases from back in the late 1980's and early 1990's.
Then they go on the tape, the most trusted inmates don't have to live on the main cell block and instead get to have a job to deal with the time they have to serve and then live in a hospital like room next to death row with a cell mate.
They mean on the tape that sharing the cell next to death row in a hospital room with another inmate was worth it for both people so they didn't have to return to the cells in the regular cell block, so they don't mind living next to each other and keeping it clean next to death row because it is such an improvement.
